Forever Is Now is a brand new EP from Bodi, produced entirely by Abstrakt. The instrumentals subtly sample our favorite Sigur Ros songs. You can pick up a copy for any price you like over atBandcamp. However, 100% of the proceeds from the album will be donated to Faraja and Ebenezer Children's Orphanages in Kenya, where Bodi spent his summer volunteering in 2010. The EP is 8 tracks, coming in at just under 25 minutes. Each track flows freely from one to the next, laced with passion, focus, the all too painful truth that we are all just passing through this temporary journey together, and the hope that we will help lift one another and make now last forever. After all, now is all we have. Forever is Now is releasing 1.24.12. It's produced entirely by UK-based super-producer Abstrakt, composed of samples from some of our favorite Sigur Ros songs. You'll notice the album is released as "name your price," so you can set any price from $0-$100,000. However, 100% of what you choose to pay will be donated to Faraja and Ebenezer orphanages in Kenya. And as an added incentive, those of you who Pre-Order with any amount of money will have the album two weeks in advance, on 1.10.12. With the Give Back Friday sale wrapped up, I thought I'd share just where exactly your support over the last week will go. This video from Mercy Corps sums it up nicely: http://vimeo.com/17542137 By providing women with fuel-efficient cookstoves, Mercy Corps helps reduce the pressure on forests that serve as habitat for endangered gorillas. More importantly, it reduces the time women spend gathering wood outside protected camps, when they are at a severe risk of assault. As always, 50% of the net proceeds from merch/album sales will continue to be donated to Mercy Corps relief efforts in the Congo. Instead of Black Friday, we're gonna do Give Back Friday. From now until December 1st, every single cent of your album and merch purchases are going to be donated to Mercy Corps to buy stoves for families in the Congo, which saves lives and protects women and children in one of the most desperate humanitarian crises on Earth. Each stove costs $25. Let's get 10 of them.
Each person who buys $10 or more worth of merch will receive a handwritten thank you card from me. Buy your Bodi/Alexipharmic/Elephant Memories gear here: Bodi Store. For more information on the stoves and the difference they make, go to http://www.mercycorps.org/gift/cookstove. How can I afford to do this? I can't, but it's worth it. Please spread the word. Thank you for your support! peace.love.respect., Bodi My Grandma, Zetta (born Zetta Zane Zilla), died a little over a month ago. Among other endeavors in a very full life, she raised 6 kids really well (including my mom), and taught me valuable lessons in perseverance and being an authentic human being. She also taught me how to swear and gamble. I made this song in testament to her. I'm making it available to you in hopes of bringing some comfort in the midst of loss. It's the toughest part of life that we all experience.
This song is part of an upcoming EP. Thank you for all of your support. I hope you enjoy. Thank you for the memories, Grandma. peace.love.respect., alex (bodi) This Sunday, I will be in Minneapolis/St. Paul with many amazing people celebrating the life of a dear friend, Micheal Larsen.
If you will be in the area, or live nearby, I hope you can make it out. I will see you there with hugs and love. Thank you all for being great. If you haven't heard much of Mike's music, you need to check it out. YouTube Eyedea, Face Candy, and Carbon Carousel and prepare to be floored. peace.love.respect., bodi Dear Friends,
First and foremost, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the incredible support you have continued to provide, both inside and outside of music. You humble me on a daily basis, and I only hope to return even a fraction of what you have given. Times are tough, and they will only continue to get more challenging; I have no doubt about this. But I also know that, with people like you in the world, the beautiful will continue to triumph over the ugly. This world continually tries to knock us to our knees. Sometimes it's successful in its attempts to do so. But as long as we keep getting back up, we stay in the fight. And it is a beautiful struggle that we all make the most of, together, and one that is made all the better by your influence. Words don't do it justice, but thank you. I don't know if it's taboo for me to open up personally here, but I consider you family. I'd like to share some of the experiences of my last year with you in hopes of being here for you to relate to. I know a lot of you may be going through some of the same life experiences, or have recently. It has been a year full of ups and downs, smiles and tears, and ultimately growth. If nothing else, I just want you to know I'm here for you. Your happiness is what I care about the most. If I can do anything, please let me know. Here's a brief snapshot of the last little over a year: July, 2010 Largely thanks to your support, I quit my 9 to 5 as a corrections officer at a maximum security juvenile jail to pursue music full-time. I have not looked back. July - August, 2010 Spent a month in Kenya volunteering at Faraja and Ebenezer Children's Orphanages. This was a trip of a lifetime, and one that I am still learning from every day. You helped make this possible through your donations and purchases of Care Bears and Corn Dogs and GSOB 3. Thank you so much. August - September, 2010 Toured with Micheal Larsen, Christopher Keller, Cody Foster, and Jacob Snider (Eyedea, Kristoff Krane, Sadistik, and Cas One, respectively) on the Save Yourself Tour. To have been on the road with Micheal, perform with him, and develop a friendship with him is something that I never thought would happen in a million years. October, 2010 Mike died. I am still trying to wrap my head around this. His influence on my work is something you can hear in every song, and I can't fully express how much he impacted me from 16 years old to every day on that 5,000 mile tour. November, 2010 My grandpa, Bill Matthews, my mom's dad, died. He was an amazing man. He was a surgeon for 40 years, fought the Nazi's, had several purple hearts, and helped make my mom into the incredible woman that she is today. January, 2011 Moved out to Fort Collins, Colorado, to live and make music with my good friend and producer, Dominic (Doctype). This continues to be great. March, 2011 Changed the name from Alexipharmic to Bodi. This was a decision several years in the making, and your support has helped make the transition smooth. April, 2011 Heidi Tauber, a great friend, died in a head-on collision. Another friend hanged himself. The swiftness with which death can strike is something I still can't fully comprehend… May - June 28, 2011 First national tour ever, The Never-Ending Gunshow Tour, with Kristoff Krane, Sadistik, and Ordeal. Went from Maine to California, to Washington, and everywhere in between. 38 shows. July, 2011 Quincy, my dog and one of my best friends since I was 12 years old, died. Had a family reunion and surprise birthday party for my mom in Montana. Saw a lot of aunts and uncles I hadn't seen in over a decade. Went on a road trip to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon with my dear friend, Megan. July - August, 2011 Small, ten city tour with Doctype, Smash Moody, and Engineers in Your Ear. September, 2011 My grandma, Zetta Matthews, died. She had, and will continue to have, an indelible influence on my life. I miss her every day. I feel like the last 14 months have given me a crash course in a lot of different experiences in life that we all go through. Through the highs and the lows, you have always been there, and for that I can never thank you enough. My Grandma died this week. She was, and will continue to be, a huge influence in my life. I'm grateful that we had the opportunity to share our journeys together for 26 years.
She was completely awesome. And I'm not just saying that because she's my grandma and I'm supposed to. It's because it's true. You'll agree, too. Here's some reasons why: 1. Her name was Zetta. Her middle name was Zane. Her maiden name was Zilla. Zetta Zane Zilla. If that isn't the most boss name in the history of names, I don't know what is. 2. She created my mom. 3. She thought Glenn Beck was a turd, and called me laughing the day he was fired. 4. She taught me how to swear. 5. She taught me how to gamble. 6. She made amazing homemade bread. 7. She would moon every visitor anytime they left the house. 8. One year for Christmas, she sent me a miniature olive green toilet with a twig glued to the bottom. The next year she sent me $100. The year after that, she sent me a framed picture of her sitting on the toilet in a nightgown with an umbrella hat on. The year after that she sent me $100. 9. She could beat you, and all of your friends, at Scrabble. 10. Her version of a hug was extending an index finger and barely making contact with the other's extended index finger. 11. The last time I saw her was on tour with Kristoff Krane, Sadistik, Ordeal, and Brady O'Rourke. She waited up until midnight for us to get there, and had homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, soup, and sandwiches for us. 12. She could beat you, and all of your friends, at pool. 13. She was original. 14. She was genuine. 15. She could beat you, and all of your friends, at poker. 16. She raised six kids. 17. She taught me sarcasm. 18. She taught me how to laugh at myself. 19. She taught me not to take life so seriously. 20. She is my grandma. I'll miss you, Zetta. For a limited time, pick up every album you see below for only $24.95 + shipping.
